Let's Get Acquainted Linky Party

I love exploring all the great blogs out there and ran across this great linky over at Mrs. Reed's blog , Flying into First Grade.  So I am linking up with them.  Since my blog is celebrating it's one year anniversary this summer I think this will be a great way to get acquainted.  :)  So here it goes.

The NOUN Game

The noun game is where you simply just name your favorite person, place, thing, and animal.
So here is mine!!!

PERSON
If I have to pick one I would go for the inspiration for the name of The Teaching Bug.  My grandmother gave me the name "Julie Bug" growing up.  She would call me that until the day she died.  So when I was coming up the name for my blog I figured if she was here today she would be happy I was a teacher and probably call me The Teaching Bug.

PLACE
My favorite place to visit is Charleston, S.C.  I absolutely love the area, the food, and the history.  I have traveled there several times and I just fall in love with it every time we go down.

THING
My favorite thing is the pool.  There is nothing better in the summer than spending any and all time swimming.  It is my FAVORITE thing to do in the summer.

ANIMAL
I love dogs.  We have had small dogs and big dogs .  Each one of them was a member of our family.

This was fun.  Go check out her blog.  She does a new linky every week.

Make It Take It Linky!

Hi everyone I am linking up for the 1st time with Cynthia over at her really cute blog 2nd Grade Pad.  If you haven't visited her blog it is really cute and you will find some great ideas to make for your classroom.  Click on the picture and take a trip over.

I thought I would share something I use with those leftover caps you find on milk or juice containers.  Usually I ask parents for donations of their milk caps or juice containers.  I make sure to say to have them washed for me .  :)

So I take my collection of milk/juice caps and label one side with letters so the children can learn to spell their names or put in alphabetic order.

On the other side I take my caps and place numbers on  the other side.  The kids can use them to practice counting, learning their phone number, place the numbers in order from 1-10 etc.  So these little milk /juice caps can be used several different ways!

Have a great week!

St. Patrick's Day!

We are officially ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day around here.  The GREEN shirts are ready and here are some of the things we will wear to a parade tomorrow.  I love the Dollar Store because you can find fun things to wear just to be silly!  The kiddos are going to love these!

Some of my favorite books to share with the kids for St. Patrick's Day are these.  They just love the silliness of the Old Lady and The Night Before St. Patrick's Day is a twist on the classic Christmas story.  The kids love looking for the leprachauns hiding and jumping throughout the story.  Great for my kindergartners.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone this weekend!  To celebrate the weekend I am offering 15% off at my Teachers Pay Teachers store .

Luck of the Irish to you!

Dr. Seuss Craft!!!

My oh so cute little nephew came home with this ADORABLE Dr. Seuss craft he made at preschool and I immediately decided that this has to be added to my crafts for Dr. Seuss....that is if you can paint all of those feet!  HA HA!  But ever so cute for preschool, home, or wherever!
This is all they did.  The painted each of the kiddos feet and had them press it down on a large sheet of white paper.  Next , they gave them a hat shape cut out of construction paper and had the kids color red stripes on the hat in between the lines that were drawn.  Now for the older kids you could have them cut out a bow shape but in this case they had the kids glue down a bow and cute wiggly eyes.  The teachers added a nose, mouth, and whiskers.  This was a young age group but with older kids they could do most of this on their own.  I had to share this because it was so cute.

Here is a little freebie to help you with the craft!

 Have a great week!

Currently with Farley

I don't know what is going on around the first of the month that I forget to head over to see what the newest Currently is with Farley!  I have done this the past couple of months and really enjoy reading what others are thinking/doing.  If you have never participated in it you should go check it out!   Here is the link.

Sick kiddos all over the place at school and home!  Something must be going around!  I don't know about you but SPRING can come back fast enough.  I want some warm weather and sun on my face!!!!  How about you??????
With SPRING coming around the corner I am in the EXTREME mood to redecorate something!  I want a new couch and chair SOOOO badly.  I am saving something like crazy!!!!  I am just GREEN with envy whenever I see those great pictures on Pinterest with those beautiful rooms.  You know which ones I am talking about.  Like this!!!  But it takes money right????

With warm weather coming it means that I would like to add some new things to my wardrobe.  I love the show What Not to Wear.  But I just want someone to give me the 5000 dollar gift card and do my makeup they can leave my hair alone...ha ha.
And finally after hearing about my wants my 3 J's are Jeans, June, and Junk.  For anyone who knows me well when I was little I HATED jeans.  Refused to wear them and did not wear them.  They never fit right.  Well that isn't the case anymore.  The word June is kind of self explanatory.  School is out!  Enough said!  And my final J is junk.  I can not stand junk laying around or people who should remain nameless leaving trash around or not picking up after themselves.  :)
Well enough wishing, wanting, and complaining for one afternoon.

Fairytales for the classroom!

Sometimes it is nice to have a short clip of a fairy tale just to enhance one of your lessons.  I just recently stumbled on these great videos from youtube.com that are from speakaboos.com.
Inside these videos are adorable pictures and the story read to the class.
What a great way to add a little pizzazz to a lesson.  :)
