This is going to be a short post but I wanted to share some cute things I plan on using with my remediation group of students. I have to say I am LOVING the opportunity to use those reading specialist skills. ;) Anyway, a few of my young readers are having trouble tracking while they are reading. I have seen this idea on Pinterest but I adapted it a little to make it my own. I took regular popsicle sticks and then drew some fun designs on the sticks to
make them fun and colorful. At the end of my reading caterpillars I hot glued some googly eyes to the end to give my little readers something to focus on while we track through our stories. I am hoping on Monday my little readers will like their new trackers. I sure do. :) What tricks do you use for your readers to help them stay on track?
Who doesn't love cupcakes?????  I know I sure do.  We have been working on a little book report project and I had to share what we did.  I don't know if you have seen these books but they are a favorite .  They are called the Cupcake Diaries.
Our assignment was to complete a book report on a book and then create a Valentine's box based on the book.  Well this teacher didn't want to use a box  so we made a giant cupcake.  :) The creative juices starting going.  Look out we are going to do something different.  :)

I made a trip to my favorite store...the Dollar Store and found this great silver bowl that looked like a giant cupcake wrapper and placed a little bit larger silver mixing bowl on top. People probably thought what in the world I was doing finding the right bowl combination.  :)

So this is how we made it.   We used strips of newspaper and a mixture of glue and water to cover the silver mixing bowl.  We let it dry over night and then added our final touches by adding paint and paint sprinkles of course...what cupcake would be complete without it.
The book report we wrote
consisted of a summary, questions you would ask the characters, making a text connection (self, word, text).  And finally an opinion of the book.  We attached it to the top of the cherry with a little booklet.  Best of all our Valentine goodies will fit right in the bowl below.

Let me know what you think?  Let's hope the idea of not using a box is alright.    ;)

O.k. we were hit with a snow storm this week where some parts of my area were hit with over 10 inches of snow. We don't know how to handle that much snow around here. It shuts the place down. :) So much so that we had 3 days of school cancelled because of it. It is amazing because one day last week we had temperatures in the 60's. Crazy weather for sure . Anyway I am linking up with Farley this month for her ever popular Currently. I love it . It is fun to read what everyone else is doing . So here is what is going on in my part of the blogging world. :)

So for the first one...no surprise where there is ice there is snow.  That is what I have been hearing a lot of lately...last week and now this one.
I love spontaneous breaks from school...I know ...I know...terrible teacher.  But I love little breaks in the winter and especially surprise ones because the winter seems to take the fun out of everything...can you tell not my favorite season.   :)
O.k. I want to make something fun and tasty for Super Bowl.  Any recipes or suggestions I would love to hear them.  Thanks.
I want an exercise bike.  I do not have time to drive to the gym and I would love to swim all year long...in my dream house would be an indoor pool that I could enjoy year around.  Anyone have money they want to lend me.
A vacation to somewhere warm where I can swim and feel the sun.  I do not like hot , hot weather but I do enjoy warm days.
O.k. for the truth and fibs.
The first one is true.  I do have naturally curly hair that has had a mind of its own since I was thirteen...was it always curly...no.
My second truth is that I almost made it to Hawaii.  LONG story but my hubby and I were headed there for our 10 year anniversary until we ended up in an emergency room in Texas.  I hope to try and make it back again sometime.
Well the fib as you can tell from my post...not a big fan of the snow.  It is beautiful and lovely to see once in a while but if I lived in a climate where it snowed all the time....I just wouldn't live in a snowy area.
Well a fun way to share a little about me.  Leave me some comments I love to hear from you.
